Field recordings transpire on a dusty reel-to-reel. From East to West. From hanging moss to Hollywood haunts. From Dirty South humidity to the invisible voice of the streets. From The Woods to the Big city.
Caught between channels, between frequencies. Tuned to a short-range satellite transmitting across eternity. On his very first release for Plug Research, matthewdavid will be your guide.

“The Woods” is a story about a boy whose A/C leaks. While he sleeps, the rising air conditioned tide sets him and his bed loose on a prophetic journey over the ocean. In an age when Elvis has been dead for 30 years, the boy travels across the crashing waves and into a promised land just beyond the boardwalk. With death always over his shoulder, searching for a friendly face but only finding strangers and salt water, Ian Dudley is the boy bed-wrecked on Rabbit Island, waiting for the end of the world. Home-produced in bedrooms of Tallahassee and Cocoa, FL, with the assistance of 30 family members and friends, including matthewdavid, “The Woods” is Ian Dudley’s band and his story, told through the unique and charming instrumentation of his own life.
